Fort Worth Colleges: Towards the Light

Most colleges in the city of Fresno are associated with religion. Most of them are affiliated with a church or a religious group or institution. That's why most non-university programs the city offers have something to do with theology, divinity and religion.

One of the more prominent colleges in the city is Brite Divinity School. Located at Texas Christian University, this school is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), as well. The University Senate of the United Methodist Church also approves of and accredits the college. Moreover, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship also provides support for the school's Baptist Studies program. The faculty is currently composed of 25 members representing various Protestant denominations, two scholars on Roman Catholicism and a scholar on Judaism. The college offers master's degrees in the fields of Theology, Theological Studies, Divinity, and Christian Service. Doctoral degrees are also offered in Ministry and Biblical Interpretation. The college also provides Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Counseling programs, and a certificate program in Theological Studies.

Besides Brite Divinity School, you'll also find the College of Saint Thomas More. This is a private institution concentrating on Catholic liberal arts. The college was founded in 1981. It awards Bachelor of Arts degree to those who successfully finish the curriculum which includes courses in Literature, Theology, Mathematics, Philosophy, Classical Languages, and many others.

There are also colleges which are not affiliated with any religious institution and are offering programs other than Theology and Christian Service. One of these is the Tarrant County College. This is a public community college which offers two-year programs toward an Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Arts, or Associate of Arts in Teaching. It is one of the largest community colleges in the state. Two of the college's four campuses can be found in Fort Worth --- the South Campus and the Northwest Campus. Still under construction is the fifth campus which is soon to rise in downtown Fort Worth.
