Another prominent airport is the Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Located 23 km or 14 miles north of the city, it is named as the first purely industrial airport in the world. The City of Fort Worth, Hillwood Development Company, and the Federal Aviation Administration teamed up to develop this airport. The airport is not open for passenger use. The other airport is the Fort Worth Meacham International Airport located at the intersection of US Highway 287 and Interstate 820.
